CHAMPION AND RICK OWENS LAUNCH THEIR FOURTH COLLABORATIVE COLLECTION

Following the cult success of Champion’s collaboration with fashion’s mastermind Rick Owens, the sportswear brand has released their very fourth collection under the iconic partnership, which brings forward a more conscious approach. The collection was created from start-to-finish within a 15km radius between both headquarters, carefully considering the production process and the fabrics used across the entire collection.

The colours for the season are the signature monochrome and beige Rick colours, with an added dark red that pays homage to Champion’s archival color palette, whilst elements like the logo and branding attributes have been further elevated using a contemporary 3D embroidery.

In a statement about the collection, Rick Owens wrote “WHEN I STARTED MY LABEL IN THE NINETIES, I HAND DREW MY LOGO AS A CROSS BETWEEN THE CHAMPION LOGO AND A JEAN PATOU PERFUME LABEL... THEY BOTH HAD A SIMILAR VINTAGE CALLIGRAPHIC FLAIR... I WASN’T CONSCIOUS OF IT THEN, BUT I SEE NOW HOW THAT BALANCE HAS DEFINED MY ONGOING AESTHETIC – A 1930S BLACK-AND-WHITE MOVIE VERSION OF BOTH AMERICAN BLUNTNESS AND EUROPEAN GLAM... I REMEMBER MY OLDER, COOLER COUSINS WEARING CHAMPION SWEATSHIRTS AND SHORTS IN THE SEVENTIES, CEMENTING THAT LOGO IN MY BRAIN...”
