Fendi debuted their new monogram ‘O’Lock’ for AW22.
On Saturday, Silvia Venturini Fendi brought in a new movement that ushered an excitement towards uber luxe elegance – the new Roaring Twenties. Showing at the Fendi HQ in Milan, the collection created a modern contrast of cream head-to-toe knitwear (matched with a knit Baguette ofc) all the way to sharply cut black sartorial silhouettes that put emphasis on the hottest new accessory – the collarbone.
Fendi also introduced their new monogram, the O’Lock , which tied in perfectly on pearl chokers and metal chains, as well as dramatically wide dropped shoulder coats. The monogram’s cool and collected look fit perfectly in Silvia’s rendition of modern menswear chic as it gave a Fendi hint towards how exponentially menswear is changing. There was also a hint of experimentation with half-trouser half-skirt combinations that flowed as they moved down the runway in shades of burgundy and raspberry.
Speaking of colours, the plethora of rich deep shades was perfectly aligned – mocha, taupe, burgundy, cream, black and white, all emphasising the modern sartorial formal tropes with super high-waisted formal trousers and tailcoats. In terms of footwear, the look was combined with Fendi’s spin on the men’s Mary Jane brogue, which has emerged this season to become the staple shoe across collections.
The accessories were reimagined in complementing colours and shrunk into perfectly small evening shapes like the Baguette miniature chain bag in embossed crocodile leather or even metal and plexiglass hardware.
Closing the show with an immaculately tailored long coat tuxedo, one thing was clear: Fendi continues ushering a beautiful fluid elegance that is equal parts rebellious and gracefully elegant.
