JORDANLUCA reveal the unexpected inspiration behind their AW22 collection.

Mystery, rebellion and deep fragility: this is what the British-Italian duo JORDANLUCA delivered on Saturday in Milan during their AW22 show. Walking down to a harrowing soundtrack of love and betrayal, the clothes completed the story of transforming heartbreak into love towards one’s self. Burnished black leather jackets in oversized silhouettes, flared denim with jewelled brooches fixed at the rips and dramatically oversized fingerless gloves all brought the sensation for anger and seduction into one — the type of love that makes you go crazy.

Expressing backstage, one half of the designer duo Luca Marchetto told the story of how they were inspired by magpies, their flight and the grace of their movement. Such can be seen especially in the chartreuse tailoring – with detail to the elongated sleeves and trousers – that flow with power and gentle fluidity. Contrasting to that, spiked scarves finished with folded silk red roses further highlight the radiating rage within love, almost like a prick from the sweetest rose. Sartorial rock n’ roll is another highlight of the collection as the oversized and stretched trouser finishes gave crash the system vibes mixed with boxy straight knitwear for good measure.

As the show wrapped up with its final tailored coat look, there was a deep sense of what JORDANLUCA is about, and that is expressing our deepest, darkest emotional pain in a beautifully crafted, imagined and bittersweet way that shows that love can be resilience that triumphs in the face of adversity.
