Jil Sander brought out contrasting bohemian minimalism for AW22.

Showing their AW22 show in Paris on Saturday, Lucie and Luke Meier searched for the balance between bohemian retro eclecticism and subdued, sharp German minimalism (something we all love about Jil Sander). Showing under an enormous sunset orange lantern in the American Cathedral, the collection brought out a beatnik sense of crochet techniques and patchwork-like blends of knit patterns that gave out a joyful, bright sense reminiscent of the energy of a summer festival.

Combined with the ultra sleek minimalistic DNA of the Swiss-Canadian duo, there was a sense of dark hippie coolness – the type of man that has layers to his personality and explores his plethora of moods whilst getting dressed for the day. Equal parts happy, nonchalant, fun, mysterious, understated and sexy would be the best way to put it. Astrology prints and zig-zag knits completed the illustrative sense of this collection that was finished with razor-sharp and sleek leather boots in true minimalist Jil Sander fashion.

In a versatility of emotion, Lucie and Luke Meier brought out the fun side of the Jil Sander man, whilst also keeping him unapologetically mysterious and honest at his core, proving that menswear is no longer muted in its unapologetically emotional nature.
