Magliano crafts powerful healing for SS23.

Magliano is a true believer in romance at heart. With a rebellious demeanour, the Italian designer likes to share stories of love, whether heartbreak or life-long true romance, he crafts from the strongest feeling within.

Bringing his show to the South parts of Milan on Sunday, Magliano brought us to the rooftop for a juxtaposed moment of sudden awakening. Exploring the secrets, feelings and emotions of the darkest parts within the night, the reshuffled, rushed awakening can be seen through the flow of silk organza shirts, untucked and unbuttoned, protruding away from the body. In other looks, the knitwear layering underneath prolonged blazers wrapping around the body in search of reassurance, masterfully portraying the act of awakening.

“We put a lot of emphasis on how the light shines onto the garments in order to display further the idea of the garment adopting a completely new characteristic. We also want to talk about the possibility of whether clothes can cure scars.” said the designer backstage, paying tribute towards the HIV/AIDS activist movement, and talking about its progress in a joyful way.

Magliano is a designer that uses his creations to shine a mirror of reflection onto ourselves. What does the night mean to us? Is it an amalgamation of peace and intimacy, or a darkness, filled with curiosity? One thing is certain, when Magliano speaks personal honesty, it is always therapeutic towards its subject.
