A Celebration of Pride and the Return to Couture

MICHAEL KORS LAUNCHES A PRIDE CAPSULE COLLECTION TO HONOUR THE STONEWALL RIOTS

In June 1969, a series of spontaneous demonstrations took place, more commonly known as the Stonewall Riots. In response to a police raid that began in the early hours of 28th June, the LGBTQ+ community protested against the oppressive forces. To commemorate the liberating movement for Pride month, the House of Michael Kors pays homage for pride month with a capsule collection.

Featuring four pioneering TikTokers in the LGBTQ+ community, Tyshon Lawrence, Ve’ondre Mitchell, Mad Tsai and Soph Mosca feature in the campaign, in partnership with Paper Magazine. Showcasing rainbow-print waterproof jackets, crystal sliders, swimming costumes, hats and gender-neutral t-shirts, the digital ensemble, captures the viral stars present theri take on popular transformation videos that have dominated social media.

All proceeds from the sale of the gender-neutral T-shirt will be donated to OutRight International throughout the month of June, a human rights non-governmental organisation that addresses human rights violations and abuses against lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex people.

VALENTINO ANNOUNCES THE RETURN OF COUTURE AW21/22

In the midst of such unprecedented times over the past year, the house of Valentino marks a return to the Couture schedule this coming July. Grasping the opportunity to delay production, the upcoming show considers the eagerness to travel and dream beyond the uniformity of our daily lives.

“One of the most challenging aspects of my work during these unprecedented times was the reprogramming of some of my recurrent thoughts, which of course included the concept and the place for my Couture shows,” shares Creative Director, Pierpaolo Piccioli. Coined at Valentino des Ateliers, the collection draws upon an amalgamation of references, spanning art theatre, music, architecture and cinema. “I have challenged myself in orchestrating a symphony of different souls, minds and creative inputs. All of these energies drove my vision to Venice,” he continues. “That is why it has been a natural decision to go for this idea. I am a designer, a fashion creator and I need to envision my creations in specific frames.”

The hotly anticipated show will be live-streamed on the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode platform and across all digital channels on 15th July in Venice.
