Need To Know: McQueen’s Artistic Homage for Pre SS22 and Christopher John Rogers Makes Dog-Walking Glamorous

ALEXANDER MCQUEEN UNVEILS WILLIAM BLAKE-INSPIRED PRE SS22 WOMEN’S COLLECTION

On Monday, Alexander McQueen launched their whimsical Pre SS22 women’s collection inspired by English poet, painter and printmaker William Blake. The collection’s artistic references takes form in items flooded with romanticism, as a stripped back yet bold essence takes centre stage. Creative Director Sarah Burton shows a particular allure towards Blake’s illustrations in Dante’s ‘Divine Comedy’ evident throughout the collection’s textures, prints and jacquards in rich colour and detail. Familiar McQueen corsets, sleeves and cuts are alive and well across the pieces, which, interpreted through the dreamy lens of Blake, are folded beautifully within the brand’s beloved aesthetic.

CHRISTOPHER JOHN ROGERS’ NEW CAMPAIGN WITH LINDSEY WIXSON AND DILONE PAPPED IN SOHO

Just another one of those evenings of gowns and chores; Christopher John Rogers’ latest campaign shot by Alexander Saladrigas portrays Lindsey Wixson and Dilone as two individuals candidly photographed on a casual night out in Soho, wearing key looks from Collection 008. With a reputation for glamour and drama, the recent CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year pushes past the beloved fantasy to highlight the fact that his brand makes real clothes, for real people. The paparazzi look to the images helps balance the refreshing sense of spontaneity to the campaign with a quintessential hint of fiction as the models take care of mundane tasks in the most exquisite of styles.

‘This campaign was meant to be quite matter-of-fact and to the point and show these fabulous clothes actually being worn,’ explains Christopher John Rogers, ‘whether walking the dog before an event, picking up flowers after work, running to a special function, driving you and your lover in your own car, or eating late night pasta at your favourite spot in Little Italy.’
