DSquared2’s immersive quest for exploration and camp had the ultimate soundtrack.

Showing physically for the first time in two years, Dean and Dan Caten wanted to take us on a camping trip. They delivered that promise in a glittery, highly colourful and perfectly accessorised way, with their show in Milan on Friday evening exploring the traveller’s quest for exploration and the art of gathering and collecting souvenirs and pieces along the way.

Sleeping bag look alike coats opened the collection with boxy striped knits alongside the DSquared2 signature flannel shirt, all signifying the man ready for Alpine exploration.

Contrasting highly charged fluorescent colours bring a highly charged spin on utilitarian trousers and silhouettes, which are perfectly finished with sequins and sparkle, confirming that menswear is reshifting its seriousness into a much more exciting venture - sequins. The collection also gets technical too as boots and accessories are inspired by gear for fly fishing, mountain expeditions, or hanging on a line between rocks. Suede duck boots, technical hiking boots fitted with crampons, embroidered  backpacks with patches and harnesses are meant to be worn over the body. And for the aprés, there are fluffy mohair socks and clogs.

Strutting along to the dance mixes of RuPaul’s “Call Me Mother” and to the air traffic control signals, the Canadian duo gave a much needed excitement about exploration again, and gave menswear a nudge into campiness and a bit of shine to connect once more with the great outdoors, and with yourself.
