Matthew Williams is cooling off with the futuristic uniform for 1017 ALYX 9SM SS23.

In the 36 degree scorching heat of Milan, Matthew Williams brought us to cool off in the suburban Franco Scarioni pools of the Italian city on Friday evening. The collection, centering around 4 main hues in the face of black, white, neon green and soft baby pink brought a feeling of how fabrics interact with the body - the ties and gatherings on short dresses ushering a visual sensation of coming out of water with your clothes on - an excitement and sensuality about life.

Both on the menswear and womenswear front, the body was celebrated with bare midriffs showcased by tossed and turned jacket tops that capture a moment of dressing in an ironic way. In a juxtaposition, the next look suggests layering, with big attention on hoods, caps and eyewear paired onto vests, overshirts and zip-up hoodies, all morphed into one look.

The trompe l’oeil denim takes up on different references with Williams creating a denim hybrid cargo trouser that brings a touch of the late 90s, whilst fitting into the futuristically cool microcosm that Alyx has carved itself into with ease. Accessories-wise, the iconic 3D moulded slipper gets a boot remake, alongside remodelled peace sign layered silver chains and a return to the big fit-your-whole-life-inside day bag to finish off the energy of an individual that exuberates the fluid definition of a futuristic uniform, whether inside the pool or not.
